This week’s Monday mix takes a different turn. Instead of late ’70s Hi-NRG or early ’80s synth-funk, we’re diving into early ‘90s indie dance and Madchester, the direct predecessor to mid-‘90s Britpop. Many of the Madchester bands had excellent dance remixes made of their tracks, and of course, the big names like The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and Inspiral Carpets are all here. You’ll also hear some other familiar artists from the era who weren’t strictly part of the indie dance scene but still put out great remixes. In the middle of the mix, there’s a shift toward more globally inspired early ’90s dance, featuring Les Négresses Vertes, The Blow Monkeys (with an excellent remix of La Passionara), and Amina. Enjoy
