This week’s mix is an action-packed affair: 19 tracks in a one-hour set. Seven of them are Rollo productions or remixes, so the Rollo sound runs strongly through the mix, especially at the opening and the finale.
The set begins with the central track of the week, followed by Rollo’s remix of the Pet Shop Boys theme for the TV series Absolutely Fabulous. The opening run continues with Sphinx – “What Hope Have I,” Gloworn – “Carry Me Home,” and the playful “Oh What A World” by Sister Bliss, who would soon become Rollo’s partner in Faithless.
The mid-section dives into the era’s high-energy dancefloor sound, with highlights from Escrima, The Klubbheads, and Lionrock’s “Packet Of Peace.” Three productions/remixes by Paul Oakenfold also appear: New Order, Grace, and his superb dub of The Rolling Stones’ “You Got Me Rocking.”
The finale returns to Rollo with Kristine W – “Feel What You Want,” Livin’ Joy – “Dreamer,” and Faithless – “Insomnia.”
