The Twelve Inch 175 : Ouragan-Irresistible : Italo/Eurodance - 1986

This week’s mix is a full-blown Eurodance and Italo disco celebration, straight from the sun-drenched dancefloors of mid-80s southern Europe.

I kick things off with this week’s featured twelve inch in its glorious “franglais” form, a blend of Ouragan and Irresistible. What follows is a mini French diva parade, starring none other than Mylène Farmer (Tristana) and Jackie Quartz (Vivre Ailleurs).

From there, we dive deeper into the Italo underground with gems like Fancy’s Come Inside, Deborah’s Danger For Love, and the haunting I Can Hear Your Voice by Hot Cold. And yes, Serge Gainsbourg makes an appearance too, his steamy take on Mon Légionnaire remains one of the most eyebrow-raising entries in the genre (and one I shamelessly support 😂).

The influence of Italo disco didn’t stop at the Italian border, it swept across the continent. This mix starts in France and ends in Germany, with a closing trio of Blind Date, Modern Talking, and C.C. Catch.
