This week’s mix reflects the genres that were gaining traction in European nightlife in 1988. Since we’re focusing on Europe, (Latin) Freestyle is the only genre left out—it remained a uniquely urban U.S. phenomenon. The rest are all here, blended so you can smoothly move from one to the next and hear how they influenced each other.
We kick off with “Jack To The Sound of the Underground,” followed by sample-based house like “Superfly Guy,” a follow-up to S’Express’s big hit.
