Description
“..and then you step outside in the sunshine, and you can’t believe you would ever go underground… that’s crazy!”, sings Eleanor Friedberger on Roosevelt Island, a song on this week’s podcast.
Every week I fret enormously over the music I include. Is it too bleak? Is it too pop? Is it too awkward? Is it too try-hard? Is it too grandiose? Is it too underground? Is it too overground?
Last night, in a mildly drunken, frustrated haze at about 1am, having fruitlessly searched all week for the goods, I reluctantly placed what I’d found into playlist on my phone and called it a night, pretty unsatisfied with my haul.
This morning, travelling into London on a phenomenally bright and beautiful Autumn day, I listened to the 15 songs again. Jesus. Each and every one sounded amazing.
This all proves a few things: 1) context is everything. 2) I worry too much. 3) My own fickleness sickens me.
I hope you find something you like, even if the sun's not out when you listen.
