Description
My fifth guest on A Way From Home is Pat Nevin.
Pat was a footballer who made over 600 professional appearances in a 20 year career, playing for the likes of Chelsea, Everton, and Scotland. He is now a radio and television pundit.
Described by the NME as 'the first post-punk footballer’ - and by his Chelsea team-mates as ‘weirdo’ - in the 1980s Pat gained notoriety for both his eclectic taste in music and literature, and for his skill as an intelligent, pacy winger.
We shared and talked about lots of new and old music, and discussed films, celebrity culture, nerves, loneliness, the World Cup and Pat’s friendship with John Peel.
Even if you’re not a football fan, there should be something here for you.
The A Way From Home podcast supports CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably.
