Classic Material x Wax Poetics #2: The Breaks of '87

In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, Classic Material has teamed up with iconic crate digger's journal Wax Poetics to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded Rap music, mixed by Chris Read. This companion Breaks series takes the re-cap of Rap History a level deeper, this time reconstructing the classics of the Hip Hop canon from their constituent sample material. This mix pieces together popular Hip Hop tunes from the year of 1987 utilising only the Funk, Soul, Disco and Boogie tracks from which they were originally constructed. Artwork pays homage to Paul Winley's iconic 'Super Disco Brakes' compilation series.
