Finding a non-annoying holiday mix on Youtube in a pinch with guests over is no easy matter because look up “best xmas songs” and you get a long, long list of truly soulless, demographically monetized mixes based, it seems on Youtube hits, led by Mariah Carey & her 600,000,000 hits for her “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Many of these mix-making companies are too busy packaging the songs for online monetization to bother with artist/track lists. Anyway, the mixes are anything but thoughful, interesting, entertaining, sensitive or musical. And so I’ve produced my own, Wreck X-Mess 1230, to combine sublime & ridiculous hidden gems, while ignoring the shrill, the cliched & the overrated.
