Winters & the magic they bring are dying. As winters recede into distant memories of ever warmer-milder months to the point of being shoved into an amnesiac corner by the effects of global warming, we covet ever more dearly its ability to bring us together indoors. We call the condition gezellig in Dutch or cosy-convivial-pleasant & seems to meteorologically emblematize contemplation or meditation. But winter under guise of stunning beauty & deceptive calm still has the capacity to disturb the silence with catastrophic dramas bringing the normal world of commerce to a delightful standstill. In the silence of the fallen snow, the sounds of skidding, crashing cars, jackknifing trucks, drivers struggling to free their automobiles.
