My homage to 30 years of wreck this mess @ radio libertaire, Paris, founded by me & since 1991 guided thru the fogs by Laurent. The first 37% of this mix was included in the marathon WTM anniversary broadcast of 22 Oct. 00H30/05H30 on RL 89.4. // Wreck This Mess: Radio & Aural Destabilization
I arrived in Paris in 1988, after 2 yrs of freeform radio at WFMU & got offered a show on Tues. I wanted radiomaking, not blabbing & spinning chestnuts = Wreck This Mess: Wreck = causing the ruin of a structure or prejudice — iconoclasm. This mess = the inner ear reshaped by marketplace. The anarchic audio de-re-arranging of familiar sounds, leading to abstract explosions of things as usual, contrary seamlessness & a bottle of wine when there were guests – often.
WTM moved back to WFMU in 1991 &, in 1996, to Radio Patapoe, in 1999 to Radio 100. & ultimately to Mixcloud, where WTM can still be heard. It remains DIY lo-budget-lo-fi, but continues to confabulate prodigal sonic voyages.
