I’ve been studying news reports on Youtube – first on gun violence and now on increased flooding globally – & I notice that governments, companies & individuals are talking the talk , the self-aggrandizing sophistries but not rowing any boat towards any significant change in pleasure, greed & comfort-driven habits.
I’ve taken electronic music inspired by water & sea, inc. Gavin Bryars “Titanic,” the Beach Boys alternate mix of “Cool Cool Water” & combined that with extreme global flooding news as well as a Socialist analysis (“Why Capitalism is Killing Us & The Planet”) by Our Changing Planet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qxP2TzYcNw) samples from radio & audiobook versions of JG Ballard’s THE DROWNED WORLD, a snippet of Slim Whitman’s “Cool Water” to create a mesmerizing audio tapestry of beguiling beauty upon which floats the dire consequences of inaction.
