I’ve never liked doing postmortem tributes to artists who maybe had been neglected in their later years, only to have death rekindle interest. Sad that we couldn’t honor them when they were still alive. A retro-tribute may be tainted by a desire to somehow give distinct & clean shape or meaning to an artist’s oeuvre minus the distraction of the artist’s messy life gumming up our need to order, classify, & analyze their work in our own vision.
I wanted to set this right when I was alerted to the fact that writer Richard Livermore told us on Facebook recently that his cancer was terminal. This Wreck mix is not per se ABOUT Richard Livermore; it is a mix programmed to what I imagine might be consoling, stimulating, soothing without being cloying or cliched as far as choice of songs.
I appreciate Richard’s support of my work at Ol’ Chanty [https://www.chanticleer-press.com/], his actually publishing it, reading it & commenting upon it over time.
