The issue of favorites always gets out of hand. Knowing no boundaries & ending up with 300 trax of which 60 will make the cut, I decided to go with songs I’ve marked with a red heart in iTunes. That produced 209. The endless production & uploading of new music makes surveying music daunting. I listen in the background & when something jumps deep into my ears, I relisten in the foreground.
Criteria are always wobbly, never steadfast or consequent. Faves can be determined using key tracks that conjure up memories, events, locations, surprising sonic discoveries, friend songs, odd remixes, weird covers, songs of haunting beauty, songs I loop while writing, immersive out-of-body songs, rousing noisy songs of impertinence, funny lyrics or immersive tracks.
