In honor of Erika Stucky coming to Amsterdam January 4, 2019 I felt compelled to dedicate a radio show to her & I am glad I did because I could get the full breadth/depth of her talents: singer, yodeler, artist, accordionist, video, stage sets, drama & an ability to crossbreed so many genres while working with some incredible incredible artists. To name a few: The Young Gods, FM Einheit [Einsturzende Neubautren], Carla Bley, Steve Neive [Elvis Costello], Jamaaladeen Tacuma (bassist Ornette Coleman, Jame Ulmer, Bill Laswell, Mark Ribot) & Tom Waits' band, covering Prince, Patsy Cline, Hendrix, Aerosmith, Randy Newman, Police, Dylan, Michael Jackson, Ellington, Elvis, Procol Harum interpreting African music, Swiss yodeling, Cowboy songs, Mariachi, jazz, blues, rock & coming up with plenty of original material. I've been a fan since I started writing my first yodel book in 2001 when I saw how she shook up traditional yodeling. I got to write liner notes for her great LP SUICIDAL YODELS.
