Monthly show from Kate Hutchinson, Guardian music and culture journalist, broadcaster and DJ from London. She is also the former Clubbing Editor at Time Out and is still waiting impatiently for the fidget-house revival.
For her first show of 2020, Kate welcomes Congolese musician and groundbreaking visual artist Baloji into the studio as he prepares to show his film-making work at this month's London Short Film Festival (10-19 January).
They'll be discussing his music, their striking videos and his piece 'The Future Is Ours', debuting at the ICA, London, on Saturday 18 January, which, he says, "uses Moustapha Alassane’s newly restored 'Samba le Grande', the first African animation entirely in colour, as a springboard to curate a programme of short film exploring experimentation in contemporary African cinema."
