John Byrne is a music archivist and compiler from the very south of darkest Ireland. For Worldwide FM Irish focus week, He has put together 'The semi-colony sixty minutes of vintage Irish Celtic Rock.
"Celtic rock is really just Irish folk rock; in its original form it tended to be a literal meeting of traditional and rock instrumentation - and in a head on collision. Very often folk rock from other places tended to be rock players slowly graduating over to folk or traditional music in an evolution, or vice versa, from traditional or folk over to rock" - John Byrne.
