Accomplished DJ, Turntablist, sound artist, composer, producer, tutor, sound engineer...we first came across the multi-disciplined NikNak at We Out Here’s Leeds emerging talent showcase, before joining us at We Out Here Festival 2019. Since then, she’s been extremely busy: releasing debut album ‘Bashi’ a collection of sounds recorded in Turkey, and then later manipulated live at Leeds International Festival, launching podcast series 'The Narrative Podcast' and, most recently, being awarded the prestigious Oram Award, (making history as the first black turntablist to do so) for innovation in sound, music and related technologies.
