Recorded on Friday night at The Grove, The Mighty Zaf warmed things up for Kenny Dope as The Grove filled out for our celebration of 30 Years of BBE Records alongside LoveVinyl.
Beginning as a London club night before becoming a label in 1996, BBE has spent three decades joining the dots between disco, soul, jazz, house, hip hop and beyond. Part of the We Out Here family for 6 years, that same musical curiosity that Gilles Peterson also embodies has always inspired our own.
The Mighty Zaf brings a lifetime of record digging to the booth, from years behind the counter at Soho’s Reckless Records and LoveVinyl to decades spent sharing music with DJs and collectors around the world, as well as releasing numerous projects on the BBE label.
“It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to DJ before Kenny Dope so I needed to make sure I brought my A game to the dance. My set finished with a Masters At Work classic as a nod to the great man.” – The Mighty Zaf
