Il Bosco (@christian-wood)transports us to the glory days of iconic Manchester night, Friends and Family, for the next instalment of our mix series. A hip-hop, all-vinyl session; pulling together all the favourite records he used to play back then for a very special 60-minutes.
Taking place at the Roadhouse, the Fat City Records crew ran ‘Friends and Family’ weekly from 2000-2009. In that time it cultivated a huge family-feel fan base, and a solid roster of resident DJs, many of which have no doubt shaped UK club culture as we know it. From Friends and Family, Il Bosco went on to found @red-laser-records: a Manchester-proud, Italo fusion platform that advocates “Italo Missiles, analogue chuggers, boogie bombs and acid heat”.
This mix takes him back to his roots. Whilst perhaps best listened to as intended: crammed into a sweaty basement, for now, cranking it loud on a bank holiday in the sunshine will definitely do.
