In a world where everything is complicated; where desire and interest are so removed from the present that nothing seems to make any sense any more, Clem Bastow decides to find out what it was like to live in the 1970s. She journeys back in time to an Australia where there were only two kinds of cheese, TV had to be watched when the programs were broadcast and music was barely portable. This is how she's living her life for a year.
