Description
For the latest Ramble Rave we tackle the heights of Kinder Scout, which is a moorland plateau and national nature reserve in the Dark Peak of the Derbyshire Peak District. The highest part of the moor is 636 metres above sea level and is the highest point in the Peak District, in Derbyshire and the East Midlands. To track this classic hike I'll be digging through the racks to pull out some of the records that shaped my journey as a DJ and music lover from the 1980s to more recent times. For a classic hike, you need classic tunes.
It's apt that almost a hundred years ago, in 1932 around 500 walkers, mostly from Manchester, trespassed en masse and walked from Hayfield to Kinder Scout to secure access rights to open country. Almost 50 years later similar tribes travelled from urban areas into the Peaks to dance and be free under the stars. Respect to them all.
