Description

This is a special podcast in addition to episode 21 of Ramble Rave where I walked Sheffield’s streets exploring iconic venues from Sheffield’s vibrant dance music history. In this podcast, you’ll hear from Richard Benson who was one half of Asterix and Space, Martin Leverton who was a pirate radio DJ throughout much of the 1990s and runs a successful record and music shop called Record Junkee and Music Junkee. Green was a resident at one of Sheffield’s most important clubs in the early 1990s, the legendary Palais. Chris Bibby was one of the promoters and DJs at the forward thinking NY Sushi nights. Winston Hazel’s importance to the Sheffield scene cannot be underestimated, he was and remains a hugely influential presence and inspired many people to take up DJing in the late 80s, including myself. We’ll hear from Neil Anderson who is a writer and journalist who has written more about Sheffield’s nightlife than anyone including a book about the subterranean club The Limit.
