When we asked Fur to conjure up a mixtape for us we knew we'd be in for something special, but nothing near this wildly eclectic. Get settled down for a journey through a feast of electronica, experimental and classical (even opera) cuts that charm and delight in equal measure.
The most refreshing thing to hear in this mixtape is something that would usually be condemned, and that is silence. Such a rare thing to find in a mix but here it signals the transition from one act to another.
For the uninitiated, this young American talent turned heads earlier in the year when he released his LP 'Witches' on Waaga records. Far from the predictable slo-mo hits of his contemporaries, Fur has crafted a melodic and analogue-driven sound that fizzles with raw emotion. Whatever genre he turns his hand to, you can guarantee it'll have that stamp of warmth that characterises his sound. He is that rare musical escape, and a gem to be treasured.
