On Monday April 19th, 2010 one of the few great voices of HipHop, Rap & Jazz passed away. A true and huge inspiration for what i am doing, the more i think about it.
R.I.P. Keith Elam aka GURU. He blessed us with non commercial attitude when HipHop stood on the corner between underground and mainstream and almost everyone else was goin for the Bling Bling shit and the top of the pops - he stayed true to himself. Besides ATCQ and the whole Dilla soulaquarian crew Guru, Gang Starr and Jazzmatazz are still our kind of hiphop.
A Jazz Thing forever. Second part of the show with a selection of MRs faves . . . Thanks a lot, Guru. Peace.
First half filled with a fully mixed up and musically shaken soulpatrol box incuding a rather nice take on the original Detroit Funk Mixes of Marvin Gayes "Whats Goin On" album, by NYC Disco DJ (1974-1982) Jay Negron aka J-Ski, who allowed me to spread the mix out.
