eMC/unsquare is back on SSS with stuff of her own, like in her first episode.
A few words from her below will tell you what you’re in for when you hit play, while all that’s left for me is to thank her for these personal, enriching contributions to the series.
Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for being there.
“Repetition legitimises. Falling further down the funky/fusion side of WAF, there’s a broader tonal palette, with new sonic textures —some pretty unpleasant— and a darker emotional weight. Urban industrial decay collides with jazzhop and dub in a kind of trap fire. Technically, the bass and drum parts deserve special attention —there’s some really good work with the fretless, and I think that was around the time I’d started using the MPC. There’s also the purely DJ side: I was playing with loops, EQ and effects in real time while recording, and I think it worked pretty effectively… plus I got through the whole set without any major screw-ups, so there’s that.”
