Post-punk began in the UK, in places like Manchester, Birmingham, and Bristol with bands like Joy Division and The Fall.
The punk era's end turned quick beats into deep vibes, guitars stepped aside for bass, and cheers of excitement became voices of decadence. It proved songs could be avant-garde art beyond just speed and rebellion.

Late '70s and early '80s.
There's this scene with French, Belgian, and Polish musicians, and they give birth to this thing called Coldwave. It's like a sub-genre of post-punk. They're all about that distant, dreamy vibe, using electronic gadgets like synths and drum machines. Totally influenced by those OG electronic bands like Kraftwerk.
