“I'm Victor, a San Francisco-based mixmaker creating mixes since the cassette era, with stints in college radio. I build mixes by instinct, chasing atmosphere, texture, and unexpected connections. Knotwork brings together two ideas: the psychedelic and the outernational. By psychedelic, I mean adventurous, uncanny music that wanders beyond familiar territory. By outernational, I mean music shaped by many traditions at once—not simply “world music” or “fusion,” but traditions crossing and weaving together. The mix is stylistically diverse, rhythmically dense, and built through culture-mixing collaborations.”
With this statement of intent, Vodem steps in as #71 in the series. A longtime presence on Mixcloud, his channel is an endless source of musical knowledge, driven by a curiosity to dig through a borderless musical legacy across places, cultural scenes, and generations.
