A central figure in the Brazilian Drum and Bass scene, DJ Nine began his journey in 1989 within the Hip-Hop movement, later evolving into Jungle & DnB under the mentorship of DJ Andy. With a career spanning iconic clubs like D-Edge and Hot Hot, he established a unique production style in 2007, blending DnB with R&B and Soul. His Surrender EP notably reached #17 on the Drum Bass Arena charts.
His most enduring legacy is the Subgrave project. What started as a radio show and landmark party in São Paulo has transformed into a vital YouTube podcast, where Nine documents the history of the movement. As a curator, he was essential in boosting global stars such as:
Critycal Dub, L-Side, Level 2, and Acuna: Major names on V Recordings.
Unreal, Duoscience, Simplification, and Mayforms: Essential melodic producers.
DNBB Recordings: A key label fostered by his platform.
DJ Nine remains the bridge between generations, cementing Brazil's status in the global Bass Music hierarchy.
