20 FROM '12 | THE HI54 YEARBOOK MIXES

Bi-weekly series ‘THE HI54 YEARBOOK MIXES’ continues by going back to when I was living out the last year of my twenties in Nottingham. 2012. The year the Mayans got wrong about the end of the world. The year the Olympics were held in London and Obama got re-elected, which means it was a year where a lot of us in the west still had some naive hope left in the tank — unfortunately, that naive hope made us blind to the fact that bubbling Brexit / Trump / Fascist waters were beginning to rise all around us, washing out whatever was left of the Occupy Movements that had flooded market squares only the year before. Twenty-Twelve was also the year that the first Mix Tape Radio episode aired. So… swings & roundabouts, eh?

And, somewhere cool in 2012, the soundtrack sounded a bit like this.
