19 FROM '99 | THE HI54 YEARBOOK MIXES

Bi-weekly series ‘THE HI54 YEARBOOK MIXES’ continues by going all the way back to when I was legally allowed to take my parents mini-van for a joy ride (not that I had the parental permission to do so, but I now met the government's legal age requirements). 1999. This was also the year when everybody started to get really worried about what would happen after New Years Eve and the calendar would end in three zeros, even though Prince had been telling us for years that this was going to be our one year to party like no other. The world’s population went over 6 billion, a school shooting felt like something that doesn’t regularly happen and Napster began dismantling the music industry.

And, somewhere cool in '99, the soundtrack sounded a bit like this (but we didn't have internet on my farm, so a lot of this music I wouldn't discover until later).
