19 FROM ’90 | THE HI54 YEARBOOK MIXES

THE HI54 YEARBOOK MIXES continues by going back to the year when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and they began taking down the Berlin Wall. 1990. The year that I turned 7 and The Simpsons aired their first episode… and I guess you could say that we're both still going strong (although I'm hoping my best seasons aren't also behind me).

Since my main memory of listening to music in 1990 is a fuzzy flashback of making my ninja turtles lip synch to MC Hammer’s ‘She’s Soft & Wet’ — which, to be fair, kinda works lyrically for an amphibian to sing when you’re 7 years old, although I think Hammer was talking about something less PG-friendly—so this 1990 mix is less about what I was listening to back then and more about what I would be listening to if I had to do 1990 over again at my current age… hope you enjoy!
