Time Got Away From Me

About this time last year, I was reminded that the NPR coverage of Austin's annual SXSW festival included posting 100 tracks from among each year's performers. I gathered as many years' worth as I could find still online & went to work synthesizing this material into a number of shows demonstrating the rich variety of music the festival offers (see "Years of Cool" in the Playlist dropdown).

A number of individual tracks really stuck with me -- one of those was Medusa by GEMS, which became the seed for this session, and offered a line I lifted from the lyrics for my show title.

Musically, it's a blend of smooth-but-not-sleepy downtempo with elements of the meditative in tunes from artists such as Glideascope, Lemongrass, AK Musique & Mokhov, uplifted with soaring vocals from the likes of GEMS, Stereo Alchemy and Antonio Bellantoni, sparkling with occasional high-energy moments throughout ...
