The Gem Master's Response

The Queen’s favorite brought her a gift of two magnificent gems. A diamond that sparkled with all the light of the sun at noon, a sapphire that glowed the deepest blue, like midnight on the ocean.

The Queen praised this gift but teased her favorite: Why bring me two such stones? Could you not choose a favorite? Were you not able to decide which was the greater prize?

The Queen's Gem Master was summoned and told: The Queen has two highly-prized gems which she wishes to wear. You will notice that the two gems are extremely unalike; the Queen requires you to exercise the highest artistry, creating a single setting in which both gems will be displayed to greatest advantage.
