In a sea of parties featuring endless variations on the same techno beats, Afrokinetic stands out. Its DJs are rooted in the school of house that made New York famous but add a heavy dose of soul, R&B, hip-hop, reggae, and Afro-Caribbean music into the mix. The unique blend combines the best parts of a traditional club night with the joy of the source music, creating a welcoming block party vibe that draws weekend warriors, seriously skilled breakdancers, and everyone in between. – FLAVORPILL
