Polemic, politics, mouth jazz and spontaneous music with Ben Watson. This week, live response to unexpected materials by three improvisors: percussionist Mario Guarnieri, known for his drum work in The Positively Testcard kwela dance band; singer Charlie Folorunsho from the world of community performance and liberation pedagogy; and host Out To Lunch on acoustic guitar and piano. In the first half, the sound of two recorders closely mic'd will provide a sonic landscape for the trio's quest for musical immediacy; in the second, music recorded by Barbara Mukoda (flute), Andrew King (electric guitar) and Out To Lunch (piano) in Somers Town on 29th May is slowed down to provide further opportunities for intuitive insight.
