Hi Good People, I am sharing something a little different this week - a Steely Dan Interpretations series.
Steely Dan is one of my favourite pop groups across the ’70s, ’80s, '90s, and into the 2000s. Their key rhythm architects and lyrical masterminds, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, crafted some of the most infectious, enduring, and timeless classics—both as part of Steely Dan and through their solo projects.
While listening to a tribute mix on Mixcloud, I was inspired to curate a personal selection of standout interpretations of Steely Dan songs—alongside one or two solo efforts from the duo. If this set is well received, I may follow up with Vol. 2, as there are still several gems waiting in the wings.
Expect a rich blend of artists across multiple genres: Jazz, Jazz-Fusion, Latin, Gospel, Soul, and Blues.
