Is it freedom, is it tradition, is it alive, does it continue to evolve and thrive or is it an art form stuck in time. I cannot answer any of these questions or even really tell you what Jazz is. I can tell you how it makes me feel, where it takes me and what it means to me, but best I leave that to the music which does it much more eloquently.
This is Volume 7 in the series and I'm very pleased to have one of the finest Jazz selectors on Mixcloud https://www.mixcloud.com/DubbelDee/ selecting the first 53 minutes of tracks that define his vision of Jazz and what it means to him. I then follow with 47 minutes of tracks inspired by DD's selections. This is a deep and transporting journey and I take much inspiration from DD's mix and from his mixes generally.
What is even more inspiring though, is that it was a question from DD that first inspired this series and set a fire in me that has only increased in size and heat across all 7 volumes of this series so far.
