Originally recorded for http://www.mixcloud.com/TheGenreCreeps/ this mix takes me back to the first time I saw Roy Ayers in concert in 1990 at Ronnie Scott's in London. I still remember sitting in those plush red booths with my girl, digging on his funky jazz sound. Man that was the first time I'd seen anyone play Vibraphone since primary school and Roy was just so damn cool.
Personally I have a bent towards early 70's jazz funk fusions as opposed to the later 70's and disco, which I am not a fan of. So with this selection I've gone for more of Roy's funky stuff from the early to mid 70s.
I recorded this sitting at my desk with a very basic Vestax Dj Controller, my laptop, monitor speakers and headphones, live in 1 take!
