Every now and again I am lucky enough to be invited to play music that is not club focused, in the sense of keeping up a party vibe or rocking a dance floor.
The weekly event 'Sonic Expedition' hosted by my good friends Tom Showtime and Tim Wigg at Belleville in Melbourne is a night dedicated to crate digging, explorations in soundscapes, jazzy interludes, funky interpretations and dubby side excursions.
I have been invited to be a guest on 4 occasions now and each time I have been free to explore the deep recesses of my music tastes and with this freedom in mind I try to bring a different set each time.
This set was recorded on the 9 March 2016. It's an early set from 6 - 8.30pm and I was playing to a dinner crowd, who were eating, drinking and chatting away so I thought I'd keep it downtempo, jazzy with a heavy dose of trippy hip hop (is there such a thing!).
Hope you enjoy it, help spread the word, this music needs to be heard. Part 2 coming soon...
