SPQR is beautiful little wood fired pizzeria in Melbourne, managed by my good friend https://www.mixcloud.com/TomShowtime/.
I dj there every Thursday night from 6pm - 10pm and I play 45s only with no specific genre to stick to. A 4 hour set allows me to really stretch out and pursue one genre deeply or be eclectic and cover multiple genres in a night.
Each week I try to change it up, so one week it might be Afrobeat, Ethio and Afro sounds with some Latin and Brazilian, another week it'll be Reggae, Lovers Rock, Rocksteady and Ska, then perhaps all Soul, or all Funk.
This is Part 1 of a 2 Part set and covers both classic and contemporary Soul. The set is recorded live and I play right in touching distance to the people eating and drinking in front of me, so many times they talk to me, ask me about the music, the setup, the name of a track etc, so as you can imagine not every mix is perfect.
