Amongst my musical loves, Jazz and Funk are probably the biggest components of my music collection and a large part of that collection covers Funky Jazz, both old and new.
For me playing music as a dj and making mixes is about the groove, the feeling created by putting this music together, the story told and the mindset generated through listening or dancing or yep even some funky prancing!
Hence I am not biased against a change of direction, a genre hop or a history lesson, or whether these tracks form a 'genre' or 'era' in musical history.
I'm informed by the groove and the vibe of the thing and I think you will be also upon hearing these great tracks and the story they tell of the funkier side of jazz.
