In my endless search of a killer groove, I have found that my musical appetite is boundless and yes even ceaseless. This draws me to so many sounds and grooves which are also heavily influenced by my travels and willingness to open my ears to 'local' music. I have a soft spot for indigenous sounds, instrumentation and rhythms. There is nothing like walking through a local market and hearing the simple sounds of a bamboo flute floating above the din of the crowd.
Even more so when these distinctive localised sounds are melded with modern sounds that you can dance to, my antenna is at full attention.
In these troubled times of terrorism, drone strikes and religious imperialism where we blame the 'other and their mothers' and blame reactive terrorism on those fleeing persecution, bombs and destruction of their homelands, I think it is more important than ever to look at the good in our respective civilisations and beliefs as then we can meet in the middle, just like this mix does.
