As an avid collector of Jazz both old and new, I've also become partial to a bit of Spiritual Jazz, particularly that of the early 1970's, I also like a bit of Ethio-Jazz ala Mulutu Astatke and going even further the jazz influences in Afrobeat.
Many of the artists in this session also profess a love of the above Jazz genres and you can hear it strongly in their music and in this session as a whole. All of these artists and tracks are relatively new and it is well worth delving further into their music so that you to can be transported and spiritualized by the power of their rhythms.
This session is also my cry to the world powers and makers of guns and bombs to stop the killing, maiming, shaming, imprisonments, racism and vilification of the few by the many and to protect our children, for they are all children of the same sun.
