2014 has been a big year in Jazz for me, as I fell deeper into its warm embrace and these tracks are the reason why. They push the genre forward, while keeping one foot in the past, reminding us all of where Jazz has come from and where it is going.
For me Jazz is a music that is forever evolving, embracing, changing and yes even staying the same, as today's artists pay homage to those that pushed Jazz forward before them and continue to offer inspiration to todays artists.
It was not easy to choose my favourite Jazz tracks from 2014 and truthfully this could have been a 4 - 5 hour session. There are just so many highlights I could not fit in, like Robert Glasper's 'Black Radio 2', Otis Brown III's 'The Thought of You' and Brian Blade & the Fellowship Band's 'Landmarks', however, the tracks I have selected for this session are for me outstanding highlights of 2014.
