Tommy Vance: "The following program is dedicated to the belief that there's always two sides to a story".

On July 16th 1977 John Lydon was invited onto Tommy Vance's show on Capital Radio for 'Johnny Rotten: The Punk and His Music'. The broadcast would be the perfect platform for the recently sacked Pistols frontman to put a few things straight, and show off the kind of eclectic musical tastes that would be informing his next project, PiL.

I'd read about the historic encounter in Rip It Up and Start Again and went about tracking a tape of it down. Using scraps of audio footage from the show and copies of the records he played, I pieced it all back up together in documentary mixtape form for anyone curious enough to want to take a trip back through John's wonderful mind and jukebox.

It was originally broadcast in 2009 on Solid Steel and then later that year on Tim Ritchie's ABC radio show in Australia.
