Started Djing in the late 90s Kai Hillmann aka Dj Smooth made his own way of techno kind of straight. Spiritualized and fascinated by the Berlin Techno movement he plays records since 1996, at first in private partys, but later on events and technopartys round berlin.
After the sound of techno changed in 2000 with the ideas of minimalism and triblisticlooptechno he relapsed and got more professional . In 2007 he had his first two residencys at both lines of Germany, one at the Mycro Club Trier, the other one near Munich at the Hundertquadrat Club.
His Style is kind of spectral techno, there are no borderlines, he is not that guy who needs to practice his sets at home, hours and hours, he developed a really special feeling for the crowd.
There is a lot of polyrythmic, tribalistic sound, just to break another heavy minimal track and every time he tries to discover new ways of groove.
