Latin house is a subgenre of electronic dance music that fuses the rhythmic foundations of house with vibrant influences from Latin American cultures, including Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, and Afro-Caribbean musical traditions. Emerging in the latter half of the 1980s, Latin house was pioneered by artists of Latin American descent who began producing house records featuring Spanish vocals and Latin rhythms. Notable early examples of the genre include Jesse Velez’s "Girls Out on the Floor" (1985), Raz’s "Amor Puertorriqueño" released on DJ International, and "Break 4 Love" by Raze.
