Description
Blondie is an American new wave band formed in New York City in 1974 by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein, widely regarded as pioneers of the mid-1970s American new wave movement. Their early work blended punk influences, achieving international success before gaining major recognition in the United States with the 1978 album Parallel Lines. The band produced numerous hit singles, including “Heart of Glass,” “Call Me,” and “Rapture,” distinguished by an eclectic fusion of disco, pop, reggae, funk, and early hip hop. After disbanding in 1982, Blondie reunited in 1997, achieving renewed success with “Maria.” Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, Blondie has sold over 40 million records worldwide and remains active, with a new album, High Noon, anticipated in spring 2026.
