Description
Since its debut in 1962, the James Bond film series produced by Eon Productions has featured a highly influential body of music widely regarded as classic British film scoring. Central to the franchise is Monty Norman’s iconic “James Bond Theme,” alongside notable instrumental pieces such as “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” and a succession of theme songs performed by prominent artists, including Shirley Bassey, Nancy Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Duran Duran, Gladys Knight, and Tina Turner, all of which became closely associated with the series. Three Bond themes, Adele’s “Skyfall,” Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall,” and Billie Eilish’s “No Time to Die”, have won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, with Smith’s and Eilish’s tracks also reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart, while Duran Duran’s “A View to a Kill” remains the only Bond song to top the US Billboard Hot 100.
