As you may have noticed, summer is definitely here with a vengeance, particularly here on the West Coast of Canada, so it seems appropriate that this week's show is comprised of summertime tunes that are best heard with a cold drink and an air conditioning unit at hand. It's true, although many of the best summer tunes are found amongst our surfing programs, Episode 428's tracklist is totally comprised of songs with the word "summer" in the title, such as the Who Live At Leeds version of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" (there are so many interprations of this song, notably Blue Cheer and Brian Setzer, who portrayed Cochran in the movie La Bamba, but we chose the Who version). Same goes with the Gershwin song "Summertime" -- there are multitudes of artists covering that tune, but we finally decided on the Janis Joplin/Big Brother & the Holding Company version from Cheap Thrills.
